Creative Industries at Boise State University

Dr. Nancy Napier, Executive Director of the Centre of Creativity & Innovation of the College of Business and Economics, has initiated an exciting stream of research that is quickly inspiring interaction and communication across diverse groups in the Treasure Valley.

"Cities have one crucial resource - their people. Human cleverness, desires, motivations, imagination and creativity are replacing location, natural resources and market access as urban resources. The creativity of those who live in and run cities will determine future success."
-- Charles Landry, The Creative City

Like many other cities and regions throughout the world, Boise and the Treasure Valley must continually adapt to the changes taking place in the world as a whole. With the accessibility of information and communication dramatically reducing the need for geographic proximity, companies and industries find that the best and brightest minds in their fields, those who are the driving force of invention and innovation, are now not only looking at the quality of life in an area where they may choose to live. Creative people thrive in creative environments. Look only to neighboring Seattle to see that both a thriving technology industry and an arts community exist. As old industries fade and new industries take their place, it is vital to our region that we provide a place that draws the creative work force to it.
